They are so lovely!! When I pulled into the parking lot at church last night there was a beautiful Florida Sandhill Crane looking for its mate…… Hopefully they found each other.
Such a beautiful bird. Way across the country from you in Northern California, we have a male – at least we believe it’s a male due to its breeding plumage – that has shown up in our pasture for ten years or so each rainy season to eat night crawlers and little frogs. It is very protective of its space and isn’t very welcoming of other egrets. It occasionally gets chased around by three bossy wild turkeys that were raised on our property by their mother.
