Mercury Fillings Banned in the EU

I have had all my amalgam/mercury fillings taken out and replaced with “white” fillings.

A healthy amount of these fillings are…mercury.  Approximately 50% by weight, a quick check on google shows.

Mercury fillings off-gas mercury into the body, which can and does make it sick.

Some American dentists are actively suggesting replacing these mercury fillings.  Some are replacing if asked to do so.  Some are still using them.

It’s all another case of where American health organizations have backed themselves into a corner that could go legal on them if they admit they were…wrong.

Here’s the story, which starts with the quote below:

“Starting July 1, 2018, amalgam use will be banned for children and for pregnant or nursing women across the vast European Union.”

THE BIG FAT SURPRISE

Nina Teicholz

The USDA food guide finally scraped the notion that dietary cholesterol made too much cholesterol in the body.

It’s about time as that science has been out there for decades and decades.  Or, the lack thereof…

It was too much to hope that in the same year the USDA would also scrap the false notion that healthy fat is bad for you.  But that will fall next.

Really, the food guide and food advice needs to be removed from the USDA–there is a huge conflict of interest involved.  What is healthy for humans to eat is not necessarily the food crops that the USDA’s main clients raise.  Corn, soybeans, and wheat would be good examples.  (I have essays in the Mainely Tipping Point Essays about the early development of the USDA food guide and the corruption involved.)

Healthy fats are NOT the highly processed and already rancid vegetable fats–with the exception of MINIMALLY processed olive and coconut oils.  Healthy fats come from healthy animals eating what they were meant to eat.  We are talking small farms that grass-feed, pasture chickens, let pigs be pigs and goats be goats and sheep be sheep, and so on.

Teicholz explores the science of fat and explains “Why Butter, Meat and Cheese Belong in a Healthy Diet.”

Here’s Teicholz’s web site:

The Wall Street Journal has a good review.

And here’s a response to Teicholz’s predictable critics:

Note that there are MANY well-credentialed folks out there saying the same thing Teicholz is saying and showing science and history that proves it.  In the Mainely Tipping Point Essays there are essays on work done by Mary Enig, Gary Taubes, and The Weston A. Price Foundation.  The latter does not have a “dog in this hunt” so to speak as they are not selling anything.

The Healing Power of Germs

Today the news is filled with hysteria about the Zika virus spreading in the United States–a virus that has been around for quite some time.  The hysteria is not taking into consideration other factors/correlations that may produce maimed infants.  Instead, without adequate research into those other factors (agricultural and insecticide poisons, GMO mosquitoes, and mandating mothers have a DTAP vaccine without one shred of safety testing on either the mother or the fetus), our so-called health organizations are pushing for yet another vaccine while cities are drenching their populations with insecticides that will kill EVERYTHING.

When I was growing up, my mother, like most of her generation, had an absolute horror about germs.

We traveled with bottles of Lysol, the emerging television programs were mostly funded by ads for cleaning or insect-eradicating products, and health scares like the polio “epidemic” went hand-in-hand with Russian nuclear terror.

Back in those days, the 1950s, travel for a family was mostly by car.  We used to drive on two-lane roads for two or three days to get “home” to Reynolds, Georgia.  Mother packed food for us to eat.  We often stopped to pee in the woods for they were far cleaner than the roadside gas stations of that era.  And when we did have to stop at one of these dives, mother went in with the Lysol bottle first while issuing warnings about not sitting on the toilet seat as you could get heinous, horrible diseases.  (It was a relief when my doctor uncle finally said that for us to get a dreaded sexual disease we would have to be misbehaving with an infected someone of the opposite sex on the toilet seat.  And could someone please, please tell the women of today to sit down as they do not need to be peeing all over the seat and the surrounding floor in public bathrooms.)

Looking back, it’s easy to see now just how surrounded all of us were by market strategies that were going to “protect” us, but that involved products to sell to us.

Well…

Science moves on.  And one of the most startling discoveries is that our bodies NEED stimulation from various illnesses to strengthen our immune systems.  AND, that we are FILLED with “germs” which are part and parcel of who we are.  I am loving and welcoming the discovery of the microbiome.

Sayer Ji of GreenMedInfo has written an interesting and thoughtful piece about where these discoveries about germs should lead us.  SHOULD, I say, knowing the odds as we are still immersed in so many drug ads on our televisions and in medical “knowledge” that is selling us drug-based interventions that are said will make us healthy and safe.  (Did you know that only one other country allows drug ads on television?  New Zealand.  And who would risk taking any of those drugs once listening to the side effects?)

Healthy and Safe?  Really?

Here’s a quote:

What makes this situation all the more surreal is the relatively recent discovery of the microbiome, namely, the 100 trillion viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasites, which outnumber our own cells 10-1, and which proves that we are more “germ” than “human,” and in many respects, would not be alive without them: e.g. about 8% of our genome is retroviral in origin, 90% of our immune system depends on bacteria in our gut. How, then, can these microorganisms be as deadly as we are told, while at the same time be responsible for making possible our life itself?

Germs are not “other.”  They are “us.”  Eradicating them without understanding their full function in our bodies, in the world, is…foolish…and is producing a host of unintended consequences that are NOT good for us.

Take a minute and take a look at Sayer Ji’s article.  And take more minutes and think about what he is saying about your health and mine.

Ensure “Nutrition” Drinks

I hope none of you are drinking, or have a family member or friend drinking, Ensure “Nutrition” Drinks.

If so, please take a look at this information.

Here’s a quote from the beginning of the article, and the article includes information from the label of what is in these products:

Carrol Krause, a former reporter for the Herald-Times of Bloomington, Indiana, had to retire from her journalism career because of an ovarian cancer diagnosis in 2014. Before she passed away in February, she wrote a blog titled ‘Stories by Carrol’ highlighting the best and the worst of her last days.

A few months ago she started having digestive issues and could no longer eat normal food. What hospice workers brought her as meal replacements horrified her.

Krause writes: “Hospice had the very best of intentions, [but] the stuff they sent over was not real FOOD. In fact, I’m outraged at the idea that they feed this stuff to dying people.”

What the hospice provided to Krause was a bag full of products by Ensure: pudding, shakes, and a drink that pretends to be apple juice.

All three are full of chemicals with about as much actual nutritional value as most commercial junk food (my emphasis), and these drinks are meant to be the nutritional lifeline for people who are extremely sick.

Ensure is owned by Abbott Nutrition, one of the worst examples of a Big Food corporation masquerading as a healthy alternative you’ll ever see. The company has deep ties to the medical industry and as such you can find their products in just about every hospital today, which is bad news for millions of patients who are just trying to get healthier.

This story is another example of how industry has us all by the throat and is choking the life out of us.  For profit.

And this is another example of how mainstream medicine ignores one of the most important chemical reactions we all have every day:  the interaction of what we eat with our bodies.

“Your Medicine is in Your Pantry”

Here’s a really nice piece by Karta Purkh Khalsa that walks one through common herbs that are also quite medicinal–especially if you know when to use them.

Here’s a quote:

Food has been the medicine of humanity since the dawn of time. Many herbs that we associate only with seasoning our food are, in fact, potent herbal medicines.

Enjoy!

Video:  The Dark Side of Pet Vaccination

We love our pets so much.

We want to do the best we can for them.

As with our own health, since health care is now an industry, we must be careful to whom we listen.  We must research.

This video shows the problems and links to a web site with information.

I could also point you to Ted Kerasote’s book PUKKA’S PROMISE, in which he discusses his considerable research on how to make the best decisions for your beloved pet.  There are blog entries here on this book

I can also tell you that when I was little, the house dogs ate table scraps as dried dog food had not been invented, did not have vaccines beyond rabies, and lived to ripe and healthy old ages.

Here’s a blurb that begins to describe the video:

Allergies, skin problems, behavior changes, autoimmune disease, seizures, injection-site cancers — these are just a few of the well-documented adverse vaccine reactions in dogs and cats. Pet vaccination is much more harmful than most people underastand.

“On Being Right and Eating Animals”:  Dr. Kelly Brogan

Here’s a lovely piece:  food for thought, for sure…

If it is one thing the discovery of the microbiome is revealing, it’s that we all have very different workings inside, depending upon the health of our microbiome and the chemistry of each of our particular systems at the moment.

There is no ONE SIZE FITS ALL way to eat as a result.

So, what’s behind the attempt to control what everyone else eats?  Fear, maybe, fear of not being in good health, of loss of control in other areas of life, of risk of something new, etc.

I personally believe there are some foods that fuel most of us in healthy ways, but I also recognize that the healthy food spectrum that works best for individuals is long and wide.  And I believe that fake foods, tainted foods, and sugar-based foods will cause disease.

Dr. Kelly Brogan is someone to whom I pay attention.  Here’s the start to her very thoughtful piece:

“Too many of us blindly put faith into different authorities, but when it comes to personal health and diet, your self knowledge and gut intuition should be your guide.”

What History Teaches Us About Walls

Whenever I hear Donald Trump say he is going to build a wall between the US and Mexico, my mind jumps to the Maginot Line in France.

That “wall” didn’t work so well.

Nor did the Great Wall of China.

Nor did, really, the Berlin Wall.

People find ways around walls…

How many human efforts to create literal walls have worked?

Of course, there is a history of walls out there.  (History isn’t Donald Trump’s long suit.  Inciting peoples’ anger is.)

There are some really pretty pictures in this article.  Of walls…

“2015 Dietary Guidelines Include Healthy Revisions”

In this article, Dr. Joseph Mercola analyzes the 2015-2020 USDA Dietary Guidelines.

Here’s how the article starts:

On January 7, 2016, the U.S. government released its 2015 to 2020 dietary guidelines 1,2,3,4,5 many of which are steps in the right direction. Perhaps one of the most promising changes is a shift away from focusing on specific nutrients toward a general focus on eating real food.

Gone are dietary taboos against dietary cholesterol.

But, the saturated fat myth remains.

Going back on both of these failed dietary recommendations in the same year was probably too much for the panel to own up to…

Mercola includes an extended discussion of the dangers of taking statin drugs.

He concludes with some dietary recommendations, which include eating more dietary fiber found in veggies.

It’s a good article…

“How The Microbiome Destroyed the Ego, Vaccine Policy, and Patriarchy”

Here’s a fascinating read by Sayer Ji, founder of GreenMedInfo:

Here’s a quote from the piece:

Source: How The Microbiome Destroyed the Ego, Vaccine Policy, and Patriarchy

The relatively recent discovery of the microbiome is not only completely redefining what it means to be human, to have a body, to live on this earth, but is overturning belief systems and institutions that have enjoyed global penetrance for centuries.

A paradigm shift has occurred, so immense in implication, that the entire frame of reference for our species’ self-definition, as well as how we relate fundamentally to concepts like “germs,” have been transformed beyond recognition. This shift is underway and yet, despite popular interest in our gut ecology, the true implications remain unacknowledged.

It started with the discovery of the microbiome, a deceptively diminutive term, referring to an unfathomably complex array of microscopic microorganisms together weighing only 3-4 lbs. in the average human, represents a Copernican revolution when it comes to forming the new center, genetically and epigenetically, of what it means in biological terms to be human.

When we work with the natural world, when we honor and acknowledge what is unknown about the complex web that we all share, we will bring back a vital health that now seems so far out of reach. When we engage technologies positioned in the war against germs and organisms, however, we are doomed to fail and to cripple not only our species but our home.

Enjoy!
